Brad Dybel is one of the most versatile engineering consultants in the construction management and geotechnical industries. He has been licensed in the state of California for 25 years as a civil engineer, geotechnical engineer, engineering geologist, and engineering consultant, providing a variety of specialty services for A/E firms, land developers, public agencies, and insurance companies. He also has held licenses as a civil engineer in Nevada, Arizona, and Texas for as many as 20 years. Brad is also a licensed contractor in California.
Brad has decades of experience as a leader, and has won prestigious awards, in professional engineering societies, such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), and the Orange County Engineering Council (OCEC). He has held positions as Chair of various committees, including Professional Practice, Membership, STEM Outreach, and Scholarships, on the Executive Boards of these societies. Brad served as Secretary on the Executive Board of OCEC, and was Editor of the OCEC’s newsletter. He was named the Outstanding Consulting Engineer in STEM Education by OCEC; the Outstanding Civil Engineer in Community Service in all of California by ASCE; the Outstanding Section Leader in all of California by ASCE; and the National STEM Champion by SAME. SAME also awarded him the Regional Vice President’s Medal.
Brad’s volunteer work in outreach to youth groups and students on STEM education was featured in two issues of SAME’s monthly magazine THE MILITARY ENGINEER. One of Brad’s projects, the 50 Monkeys Ferris Wheel at the Santa Ana Zoo, where Brad served as the Project Geotechnical Engineer, was featured in the American Concrete Institute’s monthly magazine CONCRETE INTERNATIONAL. Brad’s volunteer work with students in STEM education was featured in two issues of AMPERSAND, the online magazine of the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies. Brad’s writing also appeared in ASCE’s monthly magazine CIVIL ENGINEERING.
Brad has also authored, co-authored, and/or presented four technical papers between 1988 (while in college) and 2016 at Annual Meetings of the Geological Society of America on such subjects as Residential Geologic Evaluations; Ethics; and the Geology of Santa Cruz Island, California. Brad has also published a paper at the Annual meeting of the Southern California Academy of Sciences.
Brad serves as an engineering consultant to a select list of clients, many of which are repeat clients. His highest and best use as an engineering consultant is on projects that are technically-challenging, high-profile, and under tight deadlines.
